NO EXCUSES – BE COMMITTED TO YOUR GOALS

[dt_sc_hr_invisible_small]HELLO FEBRUARY! [dt_sc_hr_invisible_small]
[dt_sc_hr_invisible_small]Congratulations to those of you who have remained true to your goals (and there are so many of you) I am beyond thrilled and excited for you all. It’s a tough time of year but it’s also the most important when it comes to weight loss. The days go by fast…. [dt_sc_hr_invisible_small]
[dt_sc_hr_invisible_small]February has already arrived and what a short month it is with Valentine’s Day around the corner — I can assure you March will arrive even faster. So for those of you who have not stayed true I think you need to take a moment and think about how quickly the days are passing. The time to work on your mind and body is now when the snow is on the ground not when it’s spring and you are trying on summer clothes. Life happens quickly – and if you are not moving and thinking and planning, it will pass you by and you won’t even know what you did in the time it was passing. [dt_sc_hr_invisible_small]
[dt_sc_hr_invisible_small]This week’s theme is to love yourself enough to stop making excuses.  We all have excuses if we want them.  You can tell yourself that it’s quarantine, or I have no will power, it’s the kids, or I will start tomorrow….. whatever excuse you want to tell yourself is what you will believe. The bottom line is you are still using them as excuses to cheat and go off your program. And regardless of how true your excuse may be, it doesn’t change the fact that when you go off your program you will not lose weight. So remember even the best excuse in the world is still putting you in the wrong direction. [dt_sc_hr_invisible_small]
[dt_sc_hr_invisible_small]THREE IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER:
  • The distance between where you are right now and where you really want to be can be measured by the number of excuses you make and take.
  • The more excuses you make and take, the bigger the distance. The less excuses you tolerate, the more you close up that distance.
  • When you make excuses for yourself you are giving up before you even begun. You are holding yourself back from the life you want to live. [dt_sc_hr_invisible_small]
[dt_sc_hr_invisible]There are no real excuses when it comes to reaching a goal. Even the weakest person can be a doer at their own pace. Every excuse you make puts you further behind and farther back from where you are trying to be. But if you plan, prepare and focus and keep reminding yourself what you want – then there will be no stopping you. Even if you are at a snail’s pace you can still be in the same positive direction and moving toward your positive goals. So stop making excuses and start doing. Stop talking about it and start planning for it. Stop floating around waiting for it to happen and put your feet on the ground and start moving in the right direction and don’t stop until you get there.[dt_sc_hr_invisible_small]
[dt_sc_hr_invisible_small]You can’t undo your old excuses – just stop making new ones…. Don’t think about the past instead move forward and make tomorrow better than today.  If you have not been great and are starting to freak out because it’s February and March is quickly approaching then you need to stop regretting, stop beating yourself up and stop trying to undo damage that is already done. I get messages all the time – how can I reverse my extra cheating, or how can I get this weight off tomorrow! I’m sorry but you can’t turn back the clock in any part of your life. Where you are today is where you got yourself, so accept it and move on to working hard to getting yourself to where you want to be. Trying to do anything quick or fast are bad habits that got you to the overweight place you started. You don’t want to keep going down that road because that is what will keep you on the roller coaster. If you want it to be different tomorrow, next week, next month – then you need to start the change today. The only way to get the weight off is to stop making excuses and be more committed to your dreams than to your comfort zone. Stay on program and follow your menu and put the time in like everyone else. Putting the time in is the only thing that will make and keep you successful. If you are not happy with your weight today you need to own it and deal with where you are. You need to understand and own that you got yourself here. Then you need to focus on the change and the work and the positive process that you will take to get you to that happy place. The happy place where you feel good in your skin. That happy place that gives you confidence and makes you love waking up feeling lighter, happier and healthier. The process is simple: follow your menu, absolutely no excuses, put the time and the work in, stay on your path and remember your goals – and keep following the process 6 clean days a week and 1 Cheat Day.  Don’t try and change the rules and don’t try to rush the process. You know it works you have either done it or know someone who has had amazing success. Every week the weight loss will add up and before you know it you will be the person that you always admired. The person that made no excuses and worked hard for what they wanted. You will be the one who has control and who knows what they are doing and feels good all the time because you are following your 6 days on and 1 day off. You will no longer have the guilt of eating out of control and you will know that your hard work is what makes you feel amazing. When you stop making excuses and starting doing – it’s life changing because you realize that you can have it all. [dt_sc_hr_invisible_small]
[dt_sc_hr_invisible_small]IF IT’S IMPORTANT TO YOU
YOU WILL FIND A WAY
IF IT’S NOT
YOU WILL FIND AN EXCUSE[dt_sc_hr_invisible_small]

No More Excuses – Only Choices!

No More Excuses – ONLY Choices!
The Proms and Graduations are over and the kids are gone, and now so are all the excuses! It’s time to get yourself back on track for the amazing summer that is ahead of you. In fact, by this time next week so many of you will be in Greece, Italy, Croatia, Bermuda and many other beautiful fairytale places. It’s a wonderful time of the year that you work so hard for all year to enjoy. You can feel it in the air- the summer sun and the little down time that takes place when summer arrives makes everyone relax a little more and take a little breather to enjoy the accomplishments of all the hard work that takes place the other 9 months of the year. Whether you will remain home or away what you must remember is this one important thing.

Summer is 10 weeks long.
That is a really long time to either stay in control and lose weight;
or maintain and stay the same as you are today;
or do a lot of damage and end the summer in a very unpleasant place.
As many of you know it doesn’t take much for the damage part. All it takes is not thinking, not planning and frequently over indulging – very easy to do any time of the year but especially in the social summer. And even though 10 weeks feels super long the reality is it’s going to go by in the blink of an eye. But this summer is going to be different because we are planning ahead so we stay in a happy controlled but fun place all summer long. That’s right – this summer we are going to try and control our brain and body and enjoy summer and all that comes with it without putting on the extra unwanted pounds.
So how do you find this balance – it’s not as hard as you may think. You need to look at your life as a whole and think about what you want and what makes you happy. Do you want to lose weight OR do you want to be able to go out and eat what you want?. Choose your hard and choose your outcome! Which is more important and what can you live with.  Are you okay with maintaining OR Is fitting in your clothes the most important thing to you. Or maybe you want to focus on your health because you know your numbers will sky rocket if you are not following your program and eating clean; or maybe it’s about how you feel and how important it is for you to feel good about your body inside and out so you can act accordingly. Maybe it’s all of the above. To find balance and get the best results that you can live with you need to decide what you will be happy with today, tomorrow and next week. Yes, eating is fun and indulging brings instant happiness for some, however seeing a high number on the scale and not fitting into your clothes by mid July might not be worth the frequent indulgences. Again – remind yourself to always choose your hard and choose your outcome! In order to choose your hard you have to always think about the outcome and not just the moment.  It’s easy to say “It’s my vacation and I want to over indulge.” But then you must remember you have to be happy with that outcome when you step on the scale. When you choose your hard and your outcome – you will find balance in what you choose and what you can live with.
CHOCIES:
MAINTAINING: If you have a lot going on one week and you want to maintain you will either do an extra cheat day or give up cheat days and incorporate one meal and drinks or dessert each day (this can’t be long term and should be done on a weekly basis always returning back to the one cheat day a week in between). Another option is to do cheat meal – dessert or drinks every other day. Always having a day in between to regroup with your clean program.
WEIGHT LOSS: Very simple you stick to your clean meals and snacks and one cheat day a week. This is very doable in the summer because if you plan ahead you can always find a healthy choice whether you are going to a bbq, a hotel or a different country. Staying on six days clean is very doable in the summer. You have your clean meals and snacks and if you are over 21 you can even use your snacks as drinks. There are no excuses to go off program. This is more about if you want to do it – then if you can do it.
WEIGHT GAIN:  Easy to do but never an option!
We always talk about planning and how important it is. But what is more important is following through on the planning. Do the right things and make sure that if you planned on being 110% this week – then you are 110% this week. If you planned on going off of dinner and dessert and then right back on the next day – make sure you go right back on the next day- no excuses.  If you planned on being off program 2 nights but clean all day then make sure you do it. Always think things through what tomorrow is going to feel like and the end result of your choices. Will it make you happy? Is it worth it? Think about where you are today and where do you want to be next week and next month. Learn to live and enjoy today but plan for what you want and where you want to be tomorrow.
Final thoughts – If you want to lose weight you can continue to do that. You follow your six clean days on program and your one day off. If you are going on vacation then you follow the maintaining plan. After vacation you go right back on. If you choose to maintain all summer that’s okay too. Just know what you are doing and what the outcome will be. Think things through and always remember that just because you have a lot of social events that you want to enjoy and celebrate doesn’t mean that you need to cheat at everything you go to. You can enjoy and celebrate everything without indulging in unhealthy weight gaining foods, and you will feel better and have a happier summer staying on program for both your mind and body. When you can be amazing and on program do it because every good healthy clean choice can make the difference between maintaining and gaining. And all the choices you make as the summer progresses will make the difference in how you look and feel each day.
You are the only person who can make the excuse of why you are going off program
and you are the only person who can give yourself a better excuse of why you are staying on program.

Snow Today – Gone Tomorrow

While the snow is falling and stacking up in inches, they are already calling for next week’s weather to be in the 50’s.

Daylight savings time is less than a week away. With a 50 degree forecast next week, make sure that when you are reaching for that extra snack or sabotaging yourself in any way that you will be seeing the spring weather next week.

50’s will feel like the 80’s and you know how we jump into seasons. You will be sure to see the shorts and t-shits on people around every corner. Who will be wearing them? Those who worked hard and did not let winter and snow storms determine their food choices.

Think about the choices you are making and the consequences they will cause. Every time you go off program it determines whether you will lose weight or maintain. If you really go off then you will gain.  Look at your Weight Loss Path for what it is. It’s a new way of life, and realize that everything you do and every decision you make is in your hands. If you stay on your path and not let everything around you get into your way you will succeed. Here are some helpful hints to you keep you on track today:

1) Think before you act and make sure that you are eating because you are hungry and not bored. If you ever took a speech class in college you would have learned that before you speak it’s always best to pause, think, then speak. Use this same rule when reaching in the cabinet. Pause, think and then act.

2) Go into your refrigerator and cut up lot of veggies and put them in bags. Or place them on a platter for you to grab when you feel the need to mindlessly munch. If you don’t have them ready you will be grabbing for unhealthier choices that you will later beat yourself up about.

3) Surf the internet for spring and summer clothes.  Summer shorts and bathing suits.  What do you want to see yourself in?

4) Go into your closet and try on the clothes that you want to be in this spring and summer. Do they fit? are they close? Keep them out and try them on every week. You will see that you are closer and closer to reaching your goals.

5)  Workout video – Yoga, workout, aerobic or weights and get your body moving. Indoor videos don’t have to give you the best workout of your life, they just have to give you enough to sweat a little and keep you away from the kitchen.  The combination of the two can make the differennce between losing and gaining.

Remember that how you feel and the control you have over yourself, what you eat and who you are, all go hand in hand. You can make the decision to grab and eat or simply say NO. I am not saying it’s easy. Yes it will be uncomfortable. I get it, you are stuck in the house and you want it. But it is shot term pleasure that will lead to long term unhappiness. No one feels good when they don’t have control over what they are doing. You know that if you choose the wrong foods and make the wrong decisions it will make you unhappy, and if you know that being healthy, thin and in control not only feels good but it also makes you happy, then it’s up to you to make it happen. It’s up to you to say NO and walk away, and it’s up to you to deal with the uncomfortableness of saying NO. It’s only food and you will not let it control who you are, how you feel and what your day will be. Stop making excuses and remember that if you do the right thing and make the right decisions your results will be the prize. Stay your path…make the right decisions…and don’t let anything get in your way…

Stop Looking for Excuses

There are so many reasons to take it easy this season but now is not the time to hibernate! Excuses to stray away from your weight loss plan are everywhere. But this year isn’t going to be the same as the last. It may feel impossible to spend your time and energy on getting fit, but now really is the best time to focus on your weight loss.

One of the most common excuses this season is the weather. Being bundled up and feeling sluggish in the cold temperatures isn’t exactly the right environment for outdoor activities or heading the the gym. But believe it or not, this is exactly the reason why you should exercise regularly – what better way to warm up than to work out? Instead of sitting on the couch under a pile of blankets, get your body moving to warm yourself up. The best part is, you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your home to fit in a workout. Try some of our at home work outs (https://innovationweightlossandfitness.com/portfolio/4230/) or check out our Pinterest for more ideas (http://www.pinterest.com/innovationny/).

Another seasonal condition that can keep you from working out can be the lack of sunshine. Less daylight can make you feel like the day is over by 4 p.m. Again, just because you don’t want to go outside int he darkness to get in a workout doesn’t mean that you have to miss out. It can also be a good idea to switch to morning workouts if you have the time. You can get in some sunshine and start your day right, which means you have a better chance of having a good rest of the day.

Feeling under the weather? Cold and flu season is in full swing, but you don’t have to let minor symptoms get in your way. Dealing with the sniffles is likely to be part of your winter season, so don’t let it be an excuse to cancel a workout. Many time exercise can actually help you feel better. Exercise at a lower intensity or pick something low impact and slowly build back up to a regular workout as you feel better.

You may not want to think about it now, but warm weather isn’t as far away as you think. Skipping a workout or deviating from your weight loss plan for a day or a week may not seem like a big deal when spring and summer feel so far away, but now is really the perfect time to get ready for warmer seasons. You don’t have forever, you have a couple months and you can do a lot in this time. Make it count! You will feel great and look great when it’s time for shorts and t-shirts.

Turn your excuses into reasons to motivate yourself. Winter is no excuse to stop working towards your goals. Keep a positive outlook and soon even the smallest healthy choices you make will have major results.
