Your Path Can Take You To Great Places

You know what the best thing is about the Innovation program? You can literally go back on and follow your menu and within a couple of days you already feel lighter and healthier. You instantly get that self control back and you know that if you stay on, then in just a couple of weeks you will lose weight and feel great again. Sometimes the problem isn’t how to lose the weight but it’s how to stop falling into the temptations of life around you and gain the weight.

You have insecurities and doubts on your heels at all times just ready to take you down and wipe away any success that you have worked hard for. The temptations and excuses are always there so that anytime they can sway you from doing good to bad. Your doubts and anxiety are there because life is hard and it’s just so much easier to give in then to work hard everyday and do the right thing. But you always have to remind yourself – is that what you want? Yes, it’s easy to give in – but only after you give in and you find yourself in the place of uncomfortable misery of being bloated, thick and over weight is when you realize it’s not easy anymore. In fact, now you made it harder than it was before. You see, the truth is when we are hungry we want to believe that eating more will make it better. But it does’t. It will just make you look for the next thing and the next thing. You think that you will just go off and then go right back on. But reality is there is no “off” and “on” there is only “six” and “one”. Six is to stay on program and be the best you can be. Stay mindful, make the right choices, lose weight and when temptation hits and the little devil on your shoulder tells you to do the wrong thing that is when you have to be the strongest – you need to be a SHARK. It’s at that time that you have to remind yourself that it’s not the food that you want. What you want is to fit in your bathing suit this summer and go to the beach without feeling like you wish you were someone else.

LIFE IS EASIER ON PROGRAM: Everyone has social lives and everyone goes out all weekend. Kids, family, friends, holidays. Everyone can come up with at least 3 different days on the weekend to Cheat. But not everyone does. The clients who are successful keep it to one day. No matter what – it’s one day off. There is no difference from you and all the clients that have had so much success. They are just like you – yet they do it. It’s that important to them. When temptation came they fought hard and got passed it.  They Cheat one day a week and do not find reasons why they deserve more. They don’t give in. They know what is important to them and it’s not the food on the table. They know eating off program is not the answer to their happiness. That doesn’t mean it’s not hard. Life is hard and success is harder. But they fight for what they want and they stick to it and stay on the healthy path. They know that if they see something they really want they will save it for their Cheat Day. They don’t think maybe – should I Cheat? They just don’t Cheat. It’s six days on program and one day off. Because they know and have learned that when they live like this and stick to it is when the cravings go away, the struggle is gone and the Innovation program has become their healthy way of life that they love to live.

THE EASIEST WAY TO LOSE THE WEIGHT IS TO STAY ON PROGRAM

YOUR PATH TO SUCCESS: You need to fight for what you want and only when you fight and you don’t let anything in your way is when you will get it. AND ALWAYS remember you are sticking to your program and doing the right things because IT MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD, IT MAKES YOU HAPPY,  AND IT MAKES YOU  LOOK AMAZING. The consistency of being on program is what gets rid of cravings, it gets rid of the struggle and life becomes easier. Living “six” on and “one” off is what makes you feel good AND it makes you happy. Why fight it. Just do it! There is no excuse you can find around you and no food on the table that is better than feeling good, being in control being happy and looking great. Walk away from temptation and stay on your path. Because staying on your path is what will lead you to success both mentally and physically. Don’t make it harder than it is. Just follow your program and you will feel great.

St. Patrick’s Day

With St. Patrick’s Day tomorrow, we wanted to share some healthy tips to keep in mind whether you are celebrating tomorrow, over the weekend or not at all. It seems as though everyone becomes Irish during this holiday, but even if you don’t feel the need to celebrate there are still some things you can do to stay safe and healthy.

1) Don’t go overboard with festive foods. For those who don’t know, corned beef and cabbage is the traditional meal for St. Patrick’s Day. Corned beef is high in fat and sodium and if you choose to enjoy it as part of your St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, use the tasting method. Start with just a small portion just to taste it. Unless tomorrow is your cheat day this week, there are other ways to celebrate without loading up on corned beef. Cabbage, on the other hand, is full of nutrients such as fiber, calcium, magnesium, vitamin A and vitamin K. As long as it is prepared cleanly, you can embrace this St. Patrick’s day tradition. You may also come across Irish Soda Bread, a traditional Irish bread that is made with baking soda as a leavening agent instead of yeast. This food will also be best enjoyed with the tasting method unless it is your cheat day. Another thing to watch out for is food coloring. You will see a lot of foods dyed green – frosting, drinks, cookies, dips, pasta, bagels, and anything else you can think of. While having a little more food coloring than usual isn’t harmful, there are plenty of ways to get festive with food without artificial food coloring. There are plenty of green fruits and vegetables that would make great snacks or appetizers such as cucumbers, green peppers, grapes, honeydew, peas, salad, kale, apples, pears, celery, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, green olives, avocado, asparagus, green tea, cabbage and much more.

2) Drink in moderation. Unless it is your cheat day, alcoholic beverages are still one snack each. This means that 4oz of wine, 1oz of alcohol or 2 light beers are each a snack. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water.

3) Watch a parade. If you have the time, a St. Patrick’s Day parade is a great way to get the family out of the house and doing something fun and active together. If you drive to a parade location, try and park a couple blocks away and enjoy the walk.

4) Be safe. This is our most important tip for everyone tomorrow whether you are all out celebrating or just trying to avoid the chaos. No matter how safe you plan to be, tomorrow is a day where you should be extra careful. Many people will be drinking and celebrating in large crowds, so just be careful when going out, watching a parade and driving home.

Have fun, be safe and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Stop Looking for Excuses

There are so many reasons to take it easy this season but now is not the time to hibernate! Excuses to stray away from your weight loss plan are everywhere. But this year isn’t going to be the same as the last. It may feel impossible to spend your time and energy on getting fit, but now really is the best time to focus on your weight loss.

One of the most common excuses this season is the weather. Being bundled up and feeling sluggish in the cold temperatures isn’t exactly the right environment for outdoor activities or heading the the gym. But believe it or not, this is exactly the reason why you should exercise regularly – what better way to warm up than to work out? Instead of sitting on the couch under a pile of blankets, get your body moving to warm yourself up. The best part is, you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your home to fit in a workout. Try some of our at home work outs (https://innovationweightlossandfitness.com/portfolio/4230/) or check out our Pinterest for more ideas (http://www.pinterest.com/innovationny/).

Another seasonal condition that can keep you from working out can be the lack of sunshine. Less daylight can make you feel like the day is over by 4 p.m. Again, just because you don’t want to go outside int he darkness to get in a workout doesn’t mean that you have to miss out. It can also be a good idea to switch to morning workouts if you have the time. You can get in some sunshine and start your day right, which means you have a better chance of having a good rest of the day.

Feeling under the weather? Cold and flu season is in full swing, but you don’t have to let minor symptoms get in your way. Dealing with the sniffles is likely to be part of your winter season, so don’t let it be an excuse to cancel a workout. Many time exercise can actually help you feel better. Exercise at a lower intensity or pick something low impact and slowly build back up to a regular workout as you feel better.

You may not want to think about it now, but warm weather isn’t as far away as you think. Skipping a workout or deviating from your weight loss plan for a day or a week may not seem like a big deal when spring and summer feel so far away, but now is really the perfect time to get ready for warmer seasons. You don’t have forever, you have a couple months and you can do a lot in this time. Make it count! You will feel great and look great when it’s time for shorts and t-shirts.

Turn your excuses into reasons to motivate yourself. Winter is no excuse to stop working towards your goals. Keep a positive outlook and soon even the smallest healthy choices you make will have major results.

New Year Celebrations

The final holiday of 2014 is just around the corner. It is hard to believe that this year is about to come to an end! Whether you plan to celebrate the coming of the New Year out on the town or watch the festivities from the comfort of your home, take this time to make one last healthy push this year. New Years is typically a night of partying and leaving this year behind for a fresh start, but don’t let it fool you. You don’t get to press a magical restart button when the clock strikes midnight. The rules still apply, but that doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate these past 12 months to the fullest. Make this week extra healthy – eat clean and exercise in preparation for New Years Eve celebrations and to get a step ahead on your New Years Resolution, instead of letting Christmas and Hanukkah holiday eating spread out over this week. The time after the big holidays is crucial. It may seem like a constant uphill battle, but once you are able to bounce back after such a hectic and heavy eating schedule you will be so glad that you put in the extra effort now. Enjoy that party and a bubbly drink knowing you earned it.

This is a great time to be building momentum. This month we have talked a lot about getting through the holidays, but you should also take this time to give some thought to your New Years Resolution. Usually it’s something that people dread. A seemingly impossible task that they commit themselves to even though they know deep down that they won’t accomplish it. They tell their family and friends that they’re going to finally get healthy, eat right, exercise and lose those 5, 10, 15,  20 plus pounds. But then they dive in with the wrong mindset. Everything healthy they do is a step in the right direction, and when they go off track and finally give up? Well, it was expected to end that way anyway.

That cycle ends this year. Whether you have been on your weight loss plan for the past few months or made the decision to start last week, you already took the first step. What else will you do differently? Remember how far you have already come and look forward to your future accomplishments.
