Thanksgiving Challenge Week 3

 

WOW!!!  After only 3 weeks we have amazing numbers to share for the Thanksgiving Weight Loss Challenge. You are working hard and doing all the right things and it shows in the numbers, it shows on your body and it shows mentally how you feel about who you are, what you are doing and where you want to be. When you continuously do the right things for your mind and body it changes who you are. It changes what you want. You are learning what works for your weight loss and what doesn’t. You are learning how important it is to stay clean 6 days and enjoy AND indulge 1 day a week. When you follow the program you change how you think. You understand the difference between eating just to eat and eating to fuel your body for weight loss. When you stay on Program it can be life changing when you discover that when you feed your body right it responds by looking and feeling amazing.

 

Yes, it’s hard but feeling good inside and out should be enough to keep you on track. Having your clothes fit better is enough to make you continue to do the right thing. Most important – the fact that you feel the best when you are eating clean should be enough to make you want to make the right choices. We all know this isn’t just about weight loss. This is about mentally feeling strong, fit, lighter, healthier, and all around better. It’s about having the control and not being out of control, eating mindlessly and not knowing how to stop. It’s about loving yourself because you feel good everyday. It’s about opening your eyes in the morning knowing that you feel better, getting out of bed lighter, and not being dragged down by unhealthy food. It’s about being and feeling the best you could possible be everyday.

 

We are constantly reminded that life is short. Make sure each day of your life you treat your body and mind the way that it responds the best – give it love, happiness, healthy foods, control and strength. It’s only when you give yourself these beautiful gifts that you will feel your very best and be able to give to others 100% everyday. Because when you feel amazing you make everyone around you feel amazing too.

 

**If you are not in the challenge take a moment and look at the numbers down the list.  Not just the top number but the numbers in the middle – look at all the people that are down 5lbs. After 3 weeks how much would you love to be 5lbs less than you are today. You have to start and commit for it to happen. Consistency is the key. You can’t just want it or wish it you have to do it.

Wow I’m so impressed with how amazing you have all been doing. In the last two weeks I have seen everyone working so hard to get back on track and into a good place. A place where you feel better physically and mentally. I have seen the clients who are doing the right things. Who are working so hard to get to where they want to be. Their success shows in how they look and feel. It shows in their confidence in facing the day with strength and the determination that they will continue to feel good and become the person they want to be. Your numbers are adding up each week and when Thanksgiving arrives, win or lose, you will all be in such a great place.

Happy Halloween!

 

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! 
For those of you who are using a Cheat Day today – ENJOY!  For those who are not – NO CANDY! Make a bag of all the ones you love and save them for your next cheat day!
 

Life is all about making choices, and when it comes to weight loss it’s even more important to think things through before we do. While it’s very easy to grab, eat and regret – it’s so much better to get through the day knowing that you are doing the right thing for yourself and your body.   

 
Listen, we spoke about it many times in the past – weight loss is really hard. It’s hard because there are temptations everywhere and that will never change. It’s hard because in order for you to lose weight you need to take in less than your body needs. Make sure you understand that concept – you need to be in a state of restriction to lose weight. You need to take in less than what your body is currently living on to lose weight. So of course it’s hard! Who wants to live with less?? That’s why making the right choices will make such a big difference in your weight loss. Because the better your choices, the more satisfied you will feel. Maybe not full – but mentally satisfied. 
 
Each week you work so hard to get to where you want to be. It’s hard and challenging but what choice do you have. This is life! Some days will be easier and some days harder, but the most important thing is for you to understand that you need to stay on track and on program to lose the weight. Here are some things I want you to think of this week:
 

1. When you are on program and it’s challenging at least you are losing weight. Yes the temptation is there but you are losing and you feel good.
2. What is the alternative? You are off program – eating out of control and the whole time you keep thinking “I have to get back on program” meanwhile you are gaining the entire time you are contemplating going back on.
3. Let me ask you this – Why even put yourself through that? Why even put the people you love through that? If you think about it – it’s just so much easier to stay on program, it’s so much easier to do the right things and lose the weight. Because when you are not on all you want to do is be on. 
4. The food always taste so much better on Cheat Day when you are 110% all week. It’s a fact, if you want to enjoy all the foods you love then don’t eat them everyday! They are not special when you eat them every day. When it’s your Cheat Day and you have the foods you love and had to wait for you will enjoy them more.
5. You are just so much happier when you are in control and doing the right thing! Think about it. Even though it’s hard. Even though it’s challenging. Even though you have to talk yourself into making the right choices every day 6 days a week – it makes you so much happier when you do it. 

 
 
Making the right choices is never easy. We speak to our children about it all the time. We tell them – Do the right thing. Make the right choices. Remember what you do and the choices you make everyday affects everyone in your family and all the people that love you. When it comes to weight loss and health we are no different. We need to remember and live by that  same advice.

Fun Halloween Treats to Make This Weekend

 

Since Halloween is on a Monday this year it is important to have a plan so that you can enjoy your cheat day, which ever day you choose, and then get right back on plan. Halloween day can easily end up being a 3 day party and candy filled weekend, so start preparing now so you won’t be unhappy with the scale next weekend. Here are some fun and healthy treats and snacks perfect for this weekend.

 

Cheese and Crackers

Use Halloween themed cookie cutters to cut cheese into your favorite Halloween shapes! Pair cheese with Ak Mak, Wasa or Vans crackers, or add them to a veggie or fruit platter. 

 

Veggies and Dip

Take a small pumpkin, wash it and hallow it out. Place a small bowl in the pumpkin and add hummus or guacamole. Cut up some fresh veggies for dipping and you are all set!

 

Fruity Pumpkin

For this one you will need blueberries or blackberries, strawberries or red grapes and oranges or tangerines. Using a round plate, arrange the fruit so that it looks like a pumpkin face. It’s so cute and your kids will want to enjoy it too!

Another option is to take small oranges or tangerines and draw Jack-O-Lantern faces on the skin of the fruit. It’s an easy snack or fun surprise for your kids to find in their lunch! 

 

Ghostly Cheese

Take a low fat cheese stick and draw ghost faces on the back. Easy and adorably spooky!

 

Halloween Fruit Kabobs

Take cubes of orange cantaloupe and black berries and place them on a skewer, alternating between the two for a fun black and orange Halloween treat. 

 

Remember, Halloween is one day. If you see treats to candy over the weekend, try saving it in a Halloween treat bag (like the ones below) to enjoy on your Cheat Day. That way you won’t miss out on anything but you also won’t indulge for three days straight.

Another important tip is to get rid of Halloween candy as soon as possible. You can give it away at parties or make sure you only buy enough for Tricker or Treaters, or you can donate or give back Halloween candy to organizations like Operation Gratitude or participating dentists and businesses

Thanksgiving Challenge Tips and Results

 

THANKSGIVING CHALLENGE – 1 DOWN AND 4 TO GO 

 

Our first week has come and gone and below are the first WEIGHT LOSS numbers of the Thanksgiving Challenge. Because of scheduling there are some clients who only weigh in every two weeks so they are marked as 0. It will catch up with their 2 week weigh in this coming weekend. But this gives us a good idea of where we are all moving into week 2. Whether you are doing the challenge or not, what I want you to realize and recognize more than anything is how fast the weeks fly by. Really think about it – if you are not losing then you are most likely maintaining or gaining. So if you are having a positive week it’s because that’s what you want and are working to have it. If you are having a negative week you are letting it in and letting the outside negative take control of you and what you really want. You are the only person who controls that. Yes, positives and negatives are everywhere but you are the only one who can let them in to your life and your body and your home. You need to set your mind to what you want and take control and do it. YOU have the control to make the right decisions and keep your life in a positive state. If you stay positive you are much more likely to lose weight. If you keep the negative in and around you then you will most likely go off program and gain weight. The choice is always yours – just remember everything you do doesn’t only affect you – it affects everyone around you. Especially those you love and love you.  

 
Right now it’s still anyone’s challenge to win. Here are some tips for this coming weight loss week:   
 
1. Try not to get caught up in outside noise. It doesn’t matter what anyone else is doing – what matters is what you are doing and how you feel. Gravitate toward the positive. Be positive and share your positive. Walk away from the negative. There is enough negatives  in life and you don’t want or need to have others bring their negative into your world. Positive people are happier and positive, happier people lose more weight. 
 
2. Accept the compliment. When someone tells you that you look great – say Thank you! Don’t go into all the negatives that you still need to do. “I still have so much to lose” or “I still have 10 pounds” or “I don’t look that great yet or I fell off program”… blah blah negative negative. You both walk away feeling like ugh negative and unhappy. I have news for you, no one cares about your negatives. Negatives do nothing but bring life and you down and everyone around you. If you want to live with the negatives then you do it. This week try this: Instead – focus on the positive compliment. Say, “Thank you!! I’m excited and I’m working hard toward my goal” or “Thank you!! I’m really trying”. Yay! Everyone leaves happy and upbeat. Look for positives on your body and how your clothes feel. Think about where you started and where you are going. This is a positive journey and if you treat it that way you will have a much happier experience. Life is good – treat it that way.  
 
3. Try not to get caught up in the cooler days and cold nights. It’s the time of year that many of us will have hungrier days because the weather can change you mentally and physically when it comes to weight loss. Mentally you feel the need for comfort food in colder weather and physically if your body is cold it’s looking for some fat to keep it warm. Stay focused and have a plan. Sometimes just changing the time of your snacks will help you or even changing your meal times. Try 1 cup of soup as a snack in the afternoon, or  have an extra snack in the evening and lighter meal at dinner. When it comes to your food you have to be creative. You want to stick to program but it’s not set in stone what you do.  If you choose to have 1 snack today and 3 snacks tomorrow you are still on program both days. Yes you will lose more the day you have 1 snack but you will still lose the day you have 3. When you need it you eat it, when you don’t need it you don’t eat it. Listen to your body.   
 
4. PLAN for when you know you are going to be hungry. Don’t fight it and try not to eat. If you know that 3pm is a crazy time for you and you are starving at 3pm then you need to make sure you save your snacks for that time. Know what you are eating. Be prepared for your crazy time. Don’t try and get through it without eating because it will backfire. You can get through a time that’s easy for you where you are a little hungry by passing on a snack. But if you know a time of day whether it’s 4pm or 9pm is your hungry time then that’s when you need to save your snacks. Have them ready. You will look forward to them like you look forward to your cheat day.  
 
5. Speaking of Cheat Day – REMEMBER when you first started the program and you were so excited that you got one whole cheat day. You were so perfect and able to stick to it and couldn’t believe that you got to eat whatever you wanted for one whole day….some how for many of you that amazing one cheat day has become not enough now. You have trickled over into Friday nights and Sunday. What use to be one whole amazing day for you is now 3 moderate days. IT WILL NOT WORK! If you want to lose the most weight you need to keep it to one day off and 6 days clean. One day off is more than enough for anyone. Stick to it – embrace it and enjoy it!!!!  
 
 
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE FOLLOWING CONTESTANTS. WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU FOR TRYING TO BE A BETTER YOU. I SAW MANY OF YOU THIS WEEK AND YOU ARE REALLY TRYING TO GET BACK ON TRACK AND FEEL GOOD AND SEE THE NUMBERS GO DOWN. KEEP GOING. KEEP TRYING. IT’S CONSISTENCY – IT’S MINDFUL – AND IT’S POSITIVE ATTITUDE THAT WILL GET YOU TO WHERE YOU WANT TO BE! GOOD LUCK THIS WEEK! 
 
NEXT WEIGH-INS NEED TO BE SENT IN NO LATER THEN THIS SUNDAY 10/30.

OUR INNOVATION THANKSGIVING CHALLENGE HAS OFFICIAL BEGUN!
 
 
GUIDELINES:
 

– YOU HAVE TO USE THE SAME SCALE EVERY WEEK. Whether it’s your scale or ours it has to be the same scale every week.  
 
– YOU HAVE TO WEIGH IN OR BE WEIGHED EVERY WEEK. If you skip a week you will be eliminated 🙁 
 
– IF YOU ARE ONLINE SEND YOUR WEIGHT TO THEA and JOSEPHINE innovationthea@gmail.com and  innovationjosephine@gmail.com  or you can put us in a group text.  
 
– IF YOU ARE IN STUDIO and do not have a weekly appointment you must still weigh at the studio and your numbers will be forwarded to us.  
 
– IF YOU ARE going away then you will weigh before you leave. It doesn’t matter what day you weigh as long as we get a weight from you by the end of the week (Sunday marks the end of the week). So everyone in the contest should have a weigh in number to us no later than Sunday of each week.  
 
– EVERY MONDAY THE CONTESTANTS WEIGHT LOSSES WILL BE EMAILED: For example, this Monday I will email ONLY THE FIRST NAME of each contestant AND how much they lost each week (no last names and no weights will ever be posted).

Everyone in the contest will be listed (first name) with the weight they lost each week.  The Male & Female who lost the most weight at the end of the 5 weeks wins the prize of their choice. But even if you don’t come in first we feel first or last everyone who loses weight is a winner 🙂

– THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL FEE TO JOIN THE CHALLENGE BUT YOU MUST BE AN ACTIVE CLIENT.  YOUR MEMBERSHIP MUST BE ACTIVE THE ENTIRE 5 WEEKS OF THE CHALLENGE.  IF YOUR MEMBERSHIP EXPIRES BEFORE THE 5 WEEKS YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED AND THE NEXT PERSON WILL RECEIVE THE PRIZE. 

 
Challenges are fun and motivating. But to really make this challenge work for you don’t do anything drastic. Be a shark but be a healthy shark. You want to be able to continue to lose weight by eating clean and healthy. You don’t want to do anything drastic or unhealthy.  I think most of you know by now that when you do drastic it backfires and you will end up gaining more than you lost once you start eating again. So let’s keep this a healthy competition. Be a healthy shark and follow your program – eat clean and healthy for weight loss.

Thanksgiving Challenge

 
There are FIVE weeks until Thanksgiving. A lot can be done in five weeks. It just all depends on where you want to be and what you are willing to do to get there.    
 
If you choose to be a shark you can lose any where from 1-3 pounds a week and lose anywhere from 5 to 15 lbs pounds in the 5 weeks. 
 
If you want to be a snail you can lose 0-1 lb a week and lose anywhere from 1-5 lbs in 5 weeks.  
 
If you want to maintain you can lose 0 pounds a week and gain 0 pounds 5 weeks.  
 
Don’t want to care and continue to eat out of control? Then you can GAIN anywhere from 1—15 pounds in the next 5 weeks.  
 
You see there is always a choice and the choice is always yours. Whether you decide your next 5 weeks you want to gain, maintain or lose weight – will always determine where you want to be and how much you really want to be there. There will always be excuses – everyone has them. There will always be another day to start – we are lucky to always have tomorrow. But you have to decide how happy or unhappy your weight has made you and if you have done either nothing to change it or you have even gained to the point that you are unhappy. The last couple of weeks have been challenging for many with holidays.  That’s okay. It’s behind you and now is the time to put your words, and thoughts, into actions and do the right thing for your body and mind. This is the time to take control of what you want and get to a better place both physically and mentally. Get control of your food and make this happen for you. Because whether you believe it or not your weight is the one thing in your life that you truly have control over. You just have to want it more than anything. You have to want it more than food – you have to want it to fit and feel good in your clothes and you have to want it so you can be healthy, and be the best you can be everyday.  
 
I will say this over and over – If you want to lose weight you have to have 6 clean weight loss days straight and only 1 day off. The cheat day only works when your other 6 days are 110% clean. And the 6 days have to be 110% they can’t be pretty good days they have to be amazing days. That’s when you will see the most amazing results. In order to lose weight you always have to eat less than where you currently are. If you are currently 140 and want to be 130 then you have to eat like someone who is 130. When you are 125 you have to eat like you are 120. That’s how your body will lose. The cleaner the food and the better combinations will determine the more success you will have and the more you will lose. From now until Thanksgiving focus on the following:
 
  • Your weight loss days have to be consecutive days. 6 straight days of weight loss
  • If you throw a couple of maintain days in there then your number at the end of the week will be less of a weight loss or none at all
  • Make sure your food combinations are on program
 
 
TO LOSE THE MOST WEIGHT:   
  • SHARKS: For the next 5 weeks will lose the most weight by following 3 clean meals and 1 clean snack. You will follow 110% 6 days straight every week with one cheat day a week. That’s when you will see the very best weight loss numbers by Thanksgiving.  
 
  • SNAILS: If you want to be a snail (we love our snails too) and you want to go a little slower but still see a nice loss then you will do 3 clean meals and 2-3 snacks a day. Back on Track Monday!

 
With the end of the summer and start of school, work, etc…it’s easy to get a little side tracked here and there. But today it’s all about getting back on track 110% and feeling good. Today, right now, this moment, there are no more excuses. It’s literally the easiest time to be back on your path and follow your program. Do not hesitate. Regardless of what you may have going on in your life right now do not put it off. The feeling of being in control and doing the right thing will help you through any challenges you may encounter. Yes, we all know it’s hard but it will always be hard if you keep making excuses and keep putting it off. This month is the easier month to pull it together. With everyone back on a schedule and no holidays for a while, you can really make a difference in yourself, and how you feel. You can get control and keep it. You can make a list and follow it. After you have a solid month you will not only feel and look better but you will continue into the fall season in such a better place both mentally and physically. After a month on program it becomes effortless. It becomes your life. You will have that wonderful feeling of doing the right thing for yourself and it will make a difference in how you feel and act toward everyone around you.  
 
Let’s keep this short and sweet. Do what you have to do. Follow your program, eat clean, exercise, keep the schedule every day for 6 days with 1 day off. Feel the control – feel the lighter, healthier and fitter body that you want. Each day you will get closer and closer and before you know it, you will enter October in a healthy and controlled mind set that will make you feel and look amazing. You know what you want and when you work toward it everyday it will happen. But the most important thing is you have to start TODAY!

Positive Thoughts, Positive Actions, Positive Results

 

Weak is he who permits his thoughts to control his actions; strong is he who forces his actions to control his thoughts.  
 
When I read this quote, I couldn’t help but think of so many of you. When we feel mentally weak it’s so easy for us to let our thoughts take control of who we are and what we want. It becomes a snowball in our life to let our thoughts about food and drink affect our actions and in return affect our life in a negative way. When our thoughts take control it can make us depressed and sad….it can turn any day into a bad one. It’s the time that we feel mentally weak that we choose to let our guard down and we begin to self sabotage with unhealthy choices and actions. These are the choices that affect not only us but everyone important in our life.  
 
The reason I felt so strongly about writing this today is because whatever negative you did these past few weeks/months may hit home today. Whether you are off to work and your clothes don’t fit or you have come to the realization that you gained 10 lbs from summer fun. Either way it’s an easy time to let your thoughts control you actions and continue to spiral out of control.  
 
The second part of the quote is what I want you to focus on today – it’s when we are mentally strong we turn the tables and we force ourselves to do the right thing and control what we want and who we become. Regardless of how much temptation is around us we choose to be healthy and happy and stay that way. We wake in the morning with the 100% intention to feel amazing and do the right things and thats what we do. Day and night our mental strength controls our actions and our actions control our thoughts to stay happy, healthy and fit.  
 
I know I don’t have to ask the question- which do you want to feel? I already know the answer. In fact, for most of you it’s not one or the other it’s both, and it’s both too often. It’s what constantly causes the vicious roller coaster ride you put yourself on day in and day out. One day you feel confident and amazing the next it’s self pity and indulgence. It’s the same 5 pounds you keep losing and gaining. It’s an unhealthy path because it can change your day and thoughts mentally on a daily basis.   
 
Today I want you to make a commitment to finally be done with the roller coaster and want to step off the ride forever. The best way to do this is to start focusing on quality goals as much or more than quantity goals. 
 
Focus on goals and actions that are more important than the scale moving an ounce in either direction. I’m not telling you to forget the number all together, I know how important that is for you to be aware of and to monitor your progress. I’m just saying in addition to the number moving in the right direction you should think about another goal and positive actions that would mean a lot to you and possibly change your day/life. Focus on goals that will help you get the number moving in the right direction and positive actions/goals that will trigger more positive actions/goals in your daily life.  
 
 
The following are some examples of positive quality goals you might want to focus on so that each day is more productive and positive than the next:
 
1.  MY FAVORITE: Make it a priority to eat healthy 6 days a week and cheat only 1 day a week.
2.  This month start to plan ahead everyday and have your meals and snacks packed in advance.  
3.  Do not get upset over anything that is not meaningful to yourself  and your family.
4.  Don’t let yourself get caught up in gossip and find yourself eating on the phone. The person you are talking about is exercising while you are talking about them.  
5.  Make a commitment to learn to run 1 mile without stopping or walk a fast 2 miles.
6.  When you feel sad make yourself laugh.
9.  When you start to feel depressed let yourself sing a happy song out loud.  (Sounds silly but it works!)
10.  When you feel fear -make yourself push forward.
11.  If you feel uncertain – raise your voice louder in confidence.
12.  If you feel insecure – think about your past successes.
 
 
Repeat them, follow them and live them. Whether it’s one or all of them – Promise yourself that you will focus on a positive life mentally and physically. It’s important for all of us to recognize and identify our emotions and learn to control our thoughts and moods through positive actions. When you wake in the morning I want you to fight to start positive and stay positive. Everyone has issues. I tell you all the time that no one’s life is perfect, it doesn’t exist. What does exist is living a perfect life. Those who live a perfect life make it perfect with their positive thinking and positive actions. They stay on their path and in control because they want it. They work everyday to live and be happy. Don’t look for problems because I promise you will find them. Look for the positive, the happy, the playful and the control to be who you want to be and feel the way you want to feel. 
 
Start today. Focus on feeling good, and to feel good you have to eat healthy and on program. Focus on exercise because it gives you energy and strength. Focus on accomplishing your everyday tasks at work and home. Make a list and focus on getting it done. Be a good person, listen to your children, talk to your parents, and put positive effort and time into your significant other. Make the priorities in your life based around the most important things – your health, your family, your home, your happiness, your career!
